The Church celebrates on May 31st the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Vigin Mary to her kinswoman Elizabeth of Ein Karem.
To mark the Feast, the first batch our rapidly blooming peonies have been “put in their place,” so to speak, in front of the icon of the Blessed Virgin in our monastic church. When these fade, we have purple and white peonies “coming right up” to continue to grace our oratory.
On this day we have special antiphons and hymns at the Divine Office and we sing the Gloria (Mass X in the Kryiale) at Mass.
We continue to storm heaven for rain. None is in the forecast, but we haven’t lost hope.
With our greetings and prayers from the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you.
