While we’ve been praying for “four wheels” (a car!), we were recently very surprised with a gift of one wheel, a spinning wheel, and a very fine one at that.
The piece was completely handcrafted in Donnegal, Ireland, in 2019, by the master spinning wheel-maker, Johnny Shiels.
Our principal spinner, Father Zachary, is thrilled with the new wheel and spinning away. He is also our Kitchen Manager now, but fortunately our kitchen and weaving/spinning studio, dedicated to Saint Maurus, are in close proximity within our cloister.
