Each evening at the beginning of our time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in church, which concludes with the chanting of Vespers, we recite a prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe, composed by Pope Francis.

The focus of the prayer is asking for the Blessed Virgin Mary’s protection during this time of pandemic.

The text includes these words:

O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee.

The prayer asks Mary’s intercession for all who have fallen ill, for the vulnerable, for those who have died, for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others, those tending to the sick and those seeking a cure.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, intercede for us all.
