At last, we are getting some rain, and it is very welcome and appreciated. Along with that comes some unusual evening skies, as is evident in today’s photo, taken a few days ago.

At present, farmers along the Chama River, including ourselves, are not allowed to irrigate from the river, due to the meager snowpack melting north of us this Spring and the lack of rainfall this Summer. However, the fields we usually irrigate for pastureland have now gotten sufficient rainfall to turn them green, providing grass for our dozen Navajo-Churro sheep and their guard-donkey.

Under the care of Brother David, our large greenhouse near the river is producing abundantly at present. Tomatoes have especially been prolific and are being enjoyed at every midday and evening meal. Zucchini is a staple now as well!

With the arrival of September, temperatures are dropping to the 50s at night and rising to the 80s in the daytime. It is definitely still Summer, but there is a slight “Autumn-feel” in the air.

Be assured of our prayers and please keep us in yours. Thank you.
