Recently we have gotten some rain (more is always welcome), and our status will soon be lowered to “ready,” as in, “ready, set, go” being the three stages of wildfire preparedness in New Mexico. We have been on the “set” status for some time, but the “ready” status will go into effect this Thursday morning, July 24th.
More than three hundred firefights have been battling the Laguna Fire in our area, as well as four helicopters employed for tackling the flames. The fire is not yet out, but is getting closer to being so. We keep all the personnel involved in fighting forest fires at this time in our prayers.
We are happy to know the fire is posing less of a threat, and we are optimistic about reopening our Guesthouse on Friday of this week. While were in the “set” status, we concluded it would not be prudent to have guests and visitors. Now in the “ready” stage, we are farther from the possibility of having to evacuate.
Be assured of our prayers and know that we are grateful for yours.
