Spring is still in progress here, with mild temperatures at present and some deciduous trees still in bloom, as is evident in today’s photo.
Work is now going on to replace the roofs of some of our buildings, including the library, chapter room, classroom, weaving studio and corridors, extending from the monastery church to the cloister, where our rooms (cells) are located. These roofs have stood the test of time over the past twenty-five years and are now in need of replacement.
A professional company from Santa Fe is doing the work, the same company that replaced our Guesthouse roofs last year. We are grateful they are ready and willing to come to this remote setting to do the work.
While we need moisture, no rain has fallen during these days of roof replacement, which has made for smooth sailing for the roofing crew. As soon as they finish in the coming weeks, we will welcome an abundance of rainfall.
Our Summer Newsletter will be mailed out soon and we hope you enjoy it, revolving around the theme of gratitude. We can never be “too grateful” for all that we have received, hopefully each and every one of us. The Eucharist (Mass) we celebrate each morning in our church is the supreme act of gratitude we can offer to God, who has given us life and breath, food, shelter, clothing, and most importantly, the Body and Blood of the Lord. Deo gratias.
We assure you of our continued prayers, especially for students now completing an academic year and soon enjoying a Summer break. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you and God bless you.
