On the morning of Thursday, September 5th, Father Ignasi Fossas, OSB, a monk of Montserrat Abbey in Catalonia, was elected Abbot President of the Subiaco Cassinese Congregation. His time of office will be eight years.
The General Chapter of our Congregation, currently in session at Montserrat Abbey, is coming to a close in two days. Abbots will be going to Rome on Monday to attend the worldwide Congess of Abbots.
This year has been a hardship for many abbots, with the combination of the General Chapter and the Congress of Abbots back to back. Generally, abbots don’t enjoy being away for longer periods of time. It will be welcome when all the meetings are over!
