We are rapidly approaching the first full moon of the Spring Equinox, which will occur on March 28th. This year it will also be Palm Sunday. The following Sunday, April 4th, the Festival of Festivals, Easter, will be celebrated.
The mural below, in our monastic refectory, finds Saints Juan Diego, Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Benedict of Nursia processing beneath a representation of the moon.
For all our technical and other advances, we humans still rely on the phases of the moon to indicate for us when the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection will take place.
O sun and moon and all creation, praise our God, for his name is exalted over all!
