Our Brother Gregorio is pictured here with the Christmas 2020 pinata (hopefully readers know what a pinata is) at the Abbey of Sant’Anselmo in Rome, where Br Gregorio is pursuing philosophy and theology studies at the Pontificial university run by our International Benedictine Confederation.

The Sant’Anselmo pinata posted here was crafted by Mexican seminarians also studying in Rome and friends of Brother Gregorio.

The subject of the pinata is a star with rays flashing from it. Blindfolded participants try to hit the suspended pinata with a stick and eventually someone hits the pinata hard enough to break it open whereupon candy pours forth for all to enjoy.

Yes, even serious students of philosophy and theory enjoy a chance to make merry from time to time!
