Chickens can be characters. If you look closely at the accompanying photo, you will discover one of our hens on top of the roof of her coop within the larger night time cage.
How exactly she and others of our flock bound to the higher realms remains a bit of a mystery. Presumably they fly up to the rooftop, but we haven’t actually seen them doing so. Chickens can fly, but we’ve never seen ours go much beyond a foot or so off the ground.
In any case, chickens are entertaning to watch and seem to possess abilities of recognition of voices, faces and footsteps. Science supports that theory and we certainly see it in our poultry flock of 50 hens. We’re sorry they have ceased laying eggs for the moment but trust they will take up the practice again soon.
