A comfortable, clean and quiet room for your stay. It is one of only three double rooms located on the site of the original ranch house where the homesteaders of this property lived. Parking space is provided for guests next to the building itself. It is a three minute walk to the Abbey Church. Prior to your arrival, monks in charge of caring for the ranch house will have cleaned the room and made up the two twin beds, setting out towels and a washcloth. There is a book of Guidelines for guests and a Bible on the desk with a chair that also has an electric lamp for reading or writing. Standard wall electricity outlets are available as well. Guests will find additional chairs in the room for sitting to read or pray. The occupants of this room use the shared men’s and women’s restroom and shower located in the common room just a few steps away. In warmer weather the room remains cool throughout the day by keeping the window shade down. In cooler times the room is heated by radiant floor heat and the occupant controls the temperature. This room has a good-sized window with a view that opens and the door opens out to a small courtyard where there are chair for sitting next to the room. Guests are invited to be aware of not speaking in the courtyard or open corridor, so that each room, even when its door is closed, maintains a pleasant space for silence and solitude. Guests are invited to use the nearby common room that has a small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and four-burner stove, with dishes, cups and glasses to make any light meals or snacks and coffee or tea. It is also a space to visit with other guests while seated around a small table with a number of chairs. This common area also has the bathroom and shower for shared use by all of the occupants of the Ranch House. In the shower room there is a large basin sink for washing clothes and a place to hang a few for drying.
