Of late we have been blessed with rainfall, turning our Chama Canyon and cloister garden, pictured in today’s photo, into almost-Irish lush green. It won’t last forever, but certainly is being enjoyed for the time being.

Another forest fire in Chama Canyon has been spotted, though at some distance away, but likely already doused by the rains of the last few days.

As we move through the month of August, we anticipate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15th. May her example of seeking God in all things, obedience to God’s call in her life and partaking already in the glory of Heaven, inspire us in our daily lives, the “infinity of little hours,” as it is sometimes called. Where she has gone, we hope to follow. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death!

While the rains have certainly arrived, fortunately Forest Service Road 151 leading to the Monastery has remained in a passable state, admittedly with some bumpy parts along the way. Day visitors and guests on private retreat have been coming and going, being part of our ministry of hospitality.

Be assured of our prayers and please keep us in yours. Thank you.
