Suggested Donations for Accommodations in Our Guesthouse

Contributions made by guests for accommodations and meals are our primary means of financial support. While these suggested donations help us earn our living, each guest must decide what he or she can afford. Lodging in the Guesthouse includes the room and all meals.
To confirm a reservation, we require a non-refundable contribution-deposit, applicable to your stay, in the amount of one night's stay according to the type of room requested or available. Reservation and other payments may be made by credit card via our secure e-mail system or by check made payable to: "Monastery of Christ in the Desert" and mailed to: Guestmaster, Monastery of Christ in the Desert, P.O. Box 270, Abiquiu, NM 87510-020 USA. We cannot guarantee availability of accommodations unless we receive a deposit at least two to three weeks prior to your arrival also depending on the time of the year.
We have two guest residence areas, the main Guesthouse and the Ranch House. The main Guesthouse is an eight-minute walk from the church and dining area. The Ranch House is a three- minute walk from the church and dining area. The main Guesthouse has thirteen rooms and the Ranch House has three rooms. The main Guesthouse has some rooms with a common mens' bathroom and a womens' bathroom, as well as some rooms with private bathrooms. The Ranch House has a common room, and within that, a room containing toilet and sink and another room with a shower.
Guest accommodations and suggested donations rates per night are described below. You can request specific rooms and while we try to accommodate your request, we cannot guarantee the availability of a specific room.
We have eight single occupancy rooms at the Main Guesthouse, with shared common bathrooms, one for men and one for women. Suggested donation: $60.00 per night for the room, which includes all meals.
We have five double occupancy rooms (two at the Main Guesthouse and three at the ranch House) with shared common bathrooms. Suggested donation: $90.00 per night for the room, which includes all meals.
We have one single occupancy room (at the Main Guesthouse) with private bathroom.
Suggested donation: $80.00 per night for the room, which includes all meals.
We have one fully handicapped-accessible room (at the Main Guesthouse) with private bathroom for double occupancy or single occupancy. There are two beds in the room.
Suggested donation: $110.00 per night for double occupancy of the room or $80.00 per night for single occupant, which includes all meals.
We have one guest suite for double occupancy (at Main Guesthouse) with private bathroom and patio. Suggested donation: $145.00 per night for the room, which includes all meals.
We fill up quickly during certain times of the year, so we suggest you make reservations and confirm them with one night's deposit well in advance. Email is the fastest way to reach us and make reservations. We pick up our mail in Abiquiu usually several times a week, but "Overnight" or "Express" envelopes, FedEx and UPS do not expedite matters, since deliveries are not made to the Monastery.
Here are some guidelines and notes about our accommodations.
As a monastic Guesthouse, our accommodations are limited to adults, coming as individuals, couples or very small groups.
All our rooms are furnished with twin-size beds and the rooms are heated in the colder months.
At the Ranch House lighting is provided by solar power and at the main Guesthouse with
Battery-operated lanterns. There is no internet connection in the rooms.
We regret that we cannot accommodate pets at the Monastery.
We reserve the right to refuse reservations or to ask guests to leave.
Arrivals are asked to be here by 6:00 pm, arriving Mondays through Saturday. Departures may be any day of the week. Our check out time is 9:00 am on weekdays and 11:00 on Sundays.
Reservations are accepted for a minimum of two nights.
