As we begin to think about the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Monastery of Christ in the Desert, just eight short years away in 2014, we decided, with encouragement from an author and friend, Mari Graņa of Santa Fe, to publish an interpretive history of our monastery. Rather than a detailed scholarly work, which someday needs to be written, we opted for a book that would be more accessible and interesting to the average reader, be it guest, friend, visitor, family, other monks and nuns.
