Monk at Work
Brother Christian, a monk of the Benedictine Monastery of
Christ in the Desert paints retablos in the style of
New Mexico santeros using colored ink on gessoed panels.
He draws his inspiration from images displayed in churches
and books. To make his creations more easily affordable
to a wider audience, the images became magnets and note
cards. One of the offerings was of the brother himself,
shown here.
